Enzymatic construction of metal-mediated nucleic acid base pairs

Abstract Artificial metal base pairs have become increasingly important in nucleic acids chemistry due to their high thermal stability, water solubility, orthogonality natural pairs, and low cost of production. These interesting properties combined with ease chemical enzymatic synthesis prompted use several practical applications, including the construction nanomolecular devices, ions sensors, nanowires. Chemical is highly efficient enables rapid screening novel pair candidates. However, limited rather short oligonucleotides requires synthetic efforts. Herein, we discuss recent progress made for that can alleviate some these limitations. First, highlight possibility generating using canonical nucleotides then describe how modified be used this context. We also provide a description main analytical techniques analysis nature formation together relevant examples applications.
